Lindenbaum Modular

Lindenbaum Modular, synthesist and producer, is one of the most distinctive voices to emerge from the city's underground electronic music scene. Specialising in immersive live performances built around homemade synths, his music refuses to be pinned down to a single genre Electro, breakbeat, and ambient are all fair game.

What sets Lindenbaum Modular apart is his singular approach to sound design: a fascination with making synthesizers sound as organic as possible, pushing electronic equipment into territory where sounds begin to resemble natural textures, insects, feathers, the rustling of the physical world. This isn't merely a studio curiosity. His live sets are known for their inventiveness, including the use of unconventional controllers such as a Wii Nunchuk, and even an IKEA bowl rigged with pressure sensors, where dropping marbles would trigger cascading sequences of pitch and rhythm.
His debut EP Chroma, released in July 2021, showcases his meticulous production and compositional talent while preserving his signature live-and-improvised energy. The record is described as a conversation between Lindenbaum Modular and his modular synth, embellished with guitar, keyboards, and more, drawing heavily on the natural world for its immersive, textural sound design.

Guitar, it turns out, is where it all began. Lindenbaum Modular has cited Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, and Thin Lizzy as early influences, and his guitar roots continue to feed into his electronic work, including running synths through distorted guitar pedals to create blended, layered textures.
Lindenbaum Modular has performed at Leeds' Inner City Electronic festival and received both airplay from BBC Music Introducing and support from the artist development programme Music:Leeds Launchpad, with recognition that firmly places him as one of the city's most exciting emerging electronic artists
