Hello, nilehn here for the May entry of Signal to Noise and my choices of things I’ve been listening to that I feel you will enjoy

We’re always keen to hear what’s out there, so if you’ve got something you’d like to share, feel free to send it over to the contact page and we’ll do our best to give it a listen. If it resonates with us, we’ll pass it on.

At its core, Computer Club is about positivity and genuine enthusiasm. Everything we feature here is music we truly believe in, so if your work appears on this page, you can trust that we stand behind it. Happy listening!

TRSSX - A Mass Deliberately Deprives Itself of Reason

About 20 seconds in, I bought the vinyl.
A grimy sound design start, reminiscent of horror films, lovely. What follows is some nice dirty textured techno, even more lovely. The whole EP has this quality of delicious dirt, giving me ideas on how it was made, what was used and how it can be created.

This feel of an old night club, where the sweat and condensation drips from the rafters, my hips are swinging from side to side, lightly gracing other bodies in the flow of a trance. Unsure of where the night takes me, I’m being willingly chosen by someone, grabbed by the hand as the kicks pulsate in the air and heart racing in step with each other.
The night turns to day and I remember and feel all that was experienced.

This has been a repeat listen before I got the vinyl, and has continued since.
Looking forward to meet TRSSX one day, and even to hopefully work together.
Thank you for signing my vinyl! 😘

Simona Zamboli - Requiem

I’m a lover for sound design albums, especially ones that brings in a quality throughout a project, with an ever changing flow to what they are doing.

Simona Zamboli brings that with Requiem, with something that feels like it’s a mixture of torment, but also release. A feeling that there has been a build up over a time that has been kept behind, so as to not affect others around them. With a fevered style where you need to lay down on a carpet, headphones on, and let the sound melt you away into the fabric below your static self.

When they say ‘sound hunter’, I believe that.
There is so much that feels like to was hunted in the long grass, net in hand, spear in another. Readying for the next sound to creep its tiny head on the grassy horizon, looking from side to side as it drinks water. Unbeknownst it shall be a future clip into another Simona Zamboli work

Rhythm Assembler - Maximum Minimize

Another release from the co-curator of METHODICAL.
Rhythm Assembler brings a feeling of discovery when I listen to their music. Always a journey that gives an aura tht I’m travelling through space, and Maximum Minimize gives that.

A kick beating along with the stars zipping by as you have to figure out which port you can stop at to do repairs, from a ship thats nothing but a pieced together rust bucket. The sound construction feels like parts were taken from what would be thrusters used for a ship, a door opening, the warning light and the subsequent chase.

A delightful release that echos a nod to other giants in techno. The label holds many great releases to enjoy and discover

Beefcake - Hôte

When going through my CDs to put on my mp3 player, and sorting what I wanted. I was lovingly reminded of Beefcake, a duo I always felt never got the flowers they so richly deserved for their entries into electronic music.
I feel if more people did know about them or were at least noticed to a point, they sure would have gotten reissues given out. Because, my goodness this could and should still exist today for everyone to enjoy and nobody would know it was over 20 years ago.
What a time to be alive!

2002 was when Hôte released. I remember first delving into Beefcake round 2001 and already loving what they had released as I send the fans of an eMac into overdrive from making music. This rapid mixture of experimental, Drum and Bass, IDM and whatever was taken out of the pantry to mix up whatever concoction they could stir up.

Beefcake surely deserve a listen. Digital isn’t so bad [which I ended up buying as well], but if you want something to hold, it’s few and far between.
Something that is always a fantastic addition to an electronic lovers collection.
